Restaurant - Terraza el Balneario, once known as  Baños del Carmen is a place that delights with its climate, views and history that sneaks up here and reminds you of itself at every step.

Los Banos del Carmen (Carmen baths) were built in 1918. as a recreation area for the upper classes of that time.   Back then, the baths of men and women were separate, which made it difficult to see, but Banos del Carmen was the first to abolish this practice.  In 1920, a pier and a film screening screen were built, which was later expanded to include a restaurant, a gate that no longer exists, and a tennis court where the first tennis tournament in Malaga was held. In 1922 the facility was equipped with the first football field, which existed until 1941. Resort  it has also become a great venue for concerts, festivals and famous summer nights filled with dance. On over 2,000 m², about 12,000 people could play during one evening. people, including over 400 couples dancing on the dance floor.

Today, unfortunately, only the building has not been restored after its former glory, while the park, tennis courts and other attractions have been destroyed. In 2010. the city tried to reconstruct it, but with little success, and the building passed into private hands.

Terrazo el Balneario is the perfect place for a romantic sunset dinner,

or Sunday lunch filled with seaside scenery. The arrangement of the building and the service, unfortunately, give a lot to be desired, which is fortunately compensated by good food (I especially recommend salads and meat dishes), great views and the atmosphere of the place itself.

Banos del Carmen is located on the beach along Calle Bolivia. Map here.

For those who want to see the restaurant without leaving home, I recommend the movie.

In turn, those of you who want to know Malaga from years ago and the history of Banos del Carmen captured in the frame, I recommend the website  guateque.net.
