Malaga likes to surprise me and he proves every day that he deserves to be called one of the top 5 Spanish cities with the richest the cultural offer of 2016.
After years of expectations, unfulfilled promises, problems and political conflicts at the end of December 12, 2016. the door of the Museo de Málaga, one
of the most important in the history of Málaga have been opened.
Its seat is in the neoclassical palace building (Palacio de la Aduana), built in the years 1788 - 1826, which, apart from the maritime customs office, served as a snuff factory and the substitute seat of the provincial government.
The museum was founded as a result of a merger Museum of Fine Arts and Archaeological Museum. Thanks to this, the collection consists of over 15 thousand. archaeological arts and 2 thousand works from the XIX and the 20th century, having in its exhibition some of the most important works of Spanish art, such as the painting "Anatomía
del corazón "(1890) Enrique Simonet; "Dolorosa" Pedro de Mena, or "Cabeza de mosquetero" (1968) by Pablo Picasso.
On an area of 18,000 m2, there are 8 rooms: 5 devoted to archeology, which in 7 thematic blocks show a cross-section of history from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages. Another 3 the rooms are complemented by works of contemporary art. Thanks to its extensive exhibition, it is now the largest museum in Andalusia.

I must add that it is a modern museum with a really great collection and space. Even though I'm not a big fan of art or running around all museums, this is the place I was truly delighted and proud that it is located nowhere else, but in Malaga :)
